AIP Expulsion Policy

The following are minimum grounds for expulsion from the Batterers Intervention Program:

  1. Continued abuse or physical violence.
  2. Making comments of condoning any type of violence.
  3. Failure to comply with the attendance policy.
    • Each participant is allowed 2 absences per phase including late arrivals, cancellations, and no shows. A total of 4 absences for the duration of the program. Each participant must complete 26 sessions. Using your allowed will extend your time in the group.
      • Your intake counts as your first group. You will also have an Individual Midpoint session that will count as a group. You are responsible for scheduling your Midpoint session for week 13.
    • Should a participant be expelled due to attendance and wish to return to group, a new referral will be needed, and the number of sessions required will be reset to 26 unless otherwise noted by group leader.
  4. Failure to pay weekly fee (if applicable).
    • If a participant is self-pay, should participant become two weeks delinquent in fees, participant may be expelled from the group.
  5. Violation of BIP group and/or program rules. See “Group Rules” handout.
  6. Violation of a court order pertaining to violence and/or abuse of intervention process.
  7. Bringing weapons or illegal substance(s) to program property.
  8. Threats or violence to staff.
