The following are minimum grounds for expulsion from the Batterers Intervention Program:
- Continued abuse or physical violence.
- Making comments of condoning any type of violence.
- Failure to comply with the attendance policy.
- Each participant is allowed 2 absences per phase including late arrivals,
cancellations, and no shows. A total of 4 absences for the duration of the program.
Each participant must complete 26 sessions. Using your allowed will extend your
time in the group.
- Your intake counts as your first group. You will also have an Individual
Midpoint session that will count as a group. You are responsible for
scheduling your Midpoint session for week 13.
- Should a participant be expelled due to attendance and wish to return to group, a new
referral
will be needed, and the number of sessions required will be reset to 26 unless otherwise
noted by group leader.
- Failure to pay weekly fee (if applicable).
- If a participant is self-pay, should participant become two weeks delinquent in fees,
participant may be expelled from the group.
- Violation of BIP group and/or program rules. See “Group Rules” handout.
- Violation of a court order pertaining to violence and/or abuse of intervention process.
- Bringing weapons or illegal substance(s) to program property.
- Threats or violence to staff.
